Biography of Gloria Bordeaux Knapp

Gloria was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, one of two French-speaking identical twins.
She graduated from the University of Southwestern LA. In Lafayette from the college of Nursing. After marriage to Norval Knapp, they moved to Baton Rouge, LA where she now resides. Since then, she has retired from nursing, and has 12 grandchildren. [SHOW ME]
In 1981, she began Porcelain painting under the tutilage of Mabel Armer. After seven or eight years, she began studying watercolor under Henrietta Joseph and husband Joe Yoder. She has pursued Porcelain Painting as one of her main goals and loves. She also does sculpting, silk painting, watercolors, pastels, pottery and oils. You can see her work in her Bordeaux Gallery. She has traveled abroad extensively and many of her works have come from inspirations from some of the Masters. Her father, John Bordeaux was an artist, and so was her uncle Robert Bordeaux, both portrait artists. Robert was her first teacher of portraitures. She is a collector of Russian Art, during the Communist Regimes. Some of her paintings have won awards throughout Louisiana and are in private collections in California, England, and Italy. Gloria does Portraits upon request and by commission.

The porcelain pieces are her own design, except those which she did in Seminar with her Teachers. She has works in the process, in silk, porcelain, and watercolor. She teaches the art of Porcelain Painting at her Gallery Classes, which begin this spring.
